A Letter To The Kindest Stranger I Ever Met
A Short Story on the Kindness of Strangers
Every [good] friend was once a stranger -Israelmore Ayivor
Dear Blessing,
It’s been almost 2 years since we first met.I have been thinking of the right way to officially thank you for that fateful day my sister and I met you, especially with the circumstances that surrounded our meeting and I’m sorry it took this long.
Thank you Blessing for stopping in the rain that workday morning to pick my sister and I from Agungi junction.Buses were unavailable and two rookie summer interns heading to VI were stranded at rush hour in Lagos traffic. Even after beckoning to many other drivers on the road for help, you were the only one who stopped to actually pick up these strangers.Talk about being our Good Samaritan!
Thank you for the many other days we joined you to work, for days we even ran late and you waited and for days our friends also joined us to work. Also, for the days our carpool mornings were filled with Joel Osteen’s much needed words and beautiful Hillsong music. Sincerely, I am grateful.
However, what I really really really want to thank you for is for helping me become a millionaire — in savings. You encouraged me to save 50% of all my monthly earnings during my NYSC year when I thought I could only save 15%. I remember being so worried about how I would cope financially but you made me see good reason and I have come back to let you know that I took your candid advice and look at me now!
With your advice, I was able to save that much and even more till I met my N1,000,000 target in 2019 which I have now invested in Real Estate! I will not forget you in a hurry and I hope you always remember what good your advice did for me, which is why I’m thanking you this way.
I cannot thank you enough and I’m happy our paths crossed in this very small yet big planet of ours.
Thank you very much Blessing and of course, God Bless you!
All my Love & Respect,

Author’s Note: I sent her this framed canvas with the same words you just read on it. I really couldn’t express my gratitude enough. Also, I never wanted her to forget what her few words of wisdom/advice did for me even though it took almost a year to actualize. She called me over the phone that night and spoke life and good will over me; my body still remembers the chills it felt. I would still love to understand how a ‘stranger’ could wish me that well.
I would forever be amazed by the kindness of strangers and truly, every [good] friend was once a stranger.
P.S: I thought to publish this letter because ….well, I wanted to. You can also read about How I Went Broke after Saving My First Million, lol.
Enjoy and Happy New Month!
